Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer Thriver & Lymphoma Survivor
My name is Lizelle Knott
HOW DID YOU BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY?
My first diagnosis was at the age of 16.
WHAT TYPE OF CANCER WERE YOU DIAGNOSED WITH?
I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins B-Cell Lymphoma in my chest cavity. Seventeen years later, at the age of 33, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Oestrogen receptive Breast Cancer in my right breast.
Two years after that I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Oestrogen receptive Metastatic Breast Cancer in my liver.
And a year after that the cancer in my liver tested positive for HER2+
WHAT TREATMENT DID YOU UNDERGO?
For the Lymphoma I did 10 rounds of CHOP chemo
For the breast cancer I’ve done:
Unilateral mastectomy and immediate reconstruction
6 cycles of TC chemo
2 years of Tamoxifen
6 cycles of Xeloda chemo
12 cycles of Navelbine
2 liver resections
Removal of ovaries
15 doses of radiation
And I’m currently on Equisin
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN REMISSION?

I’m not in remission…
WHAT OR WHO GAVE YOU COURAGE TO FIGHT
My little boy is my reason for fighting. He was only 14 months old when I was diagnosed with the breast cancer. Grayson will only ever have one mommy, and I need to keep fighting in order to be around for as long as possible.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER CANCER SUFFERS?
Three things:
-
Find something good in every day, no matter how small it may seem.
-
Get up, get dressed, put some make-up on, it’ll make you feel better!
-
Celebrate completing another chemo, treat yourself to something special after blood tests or scans. It’s the little things!
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE QUOTE?
“Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an Adventure”
HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE THE PERSON YOU ARE TODAY
I honestly believe that cancer changed me, for the better, and in a positive way. I’m someone that tries to live my best life all the time.
I love spending time with family and friends, making memories, appreciating the little things. I grab every opportunity that comes my way with both hands, and I’ve definitely become more adventurous!
